The Mpumalanga High Court sitting in Middleburg on Tuesday sentenced a 53-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of 14-year-old Bhekimuzi Ziko on a farm in Kamhlushwa, Nkomazi.

Sarrel Petrus du Plessis was found guilty of murdering Ziko, who he shot in December 2018 on a farm where he had been hired as a security guard.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the boy was with his brother and friends when Du Plessis fired at him using an unlicensed firearm.
