In the Eastern Cape, the flooding death toll has climbed to 10 after the discovery of a missing woman’s body in Rocklands. Two fatalities occurred in East London, with one person still missing. The police have identified victims in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, including Alutha Brown (4), Ndumiso Booysen (41), and others. Cleanup operations are ongoing, and search efforts by SAPS K9 and rescue units continue.

Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane announced that discussions are underway about providing support to flood victims. Warehouses are being set up to collect essentials like mattresses, blankets, and food, with appeals to companies for donations. MECs from various departments are actively involved in the relief efforts, which include psychosocial support. Mabuyane acknowledged the province’s vulnerability to natural disasters and outlined plans for future mitigation. Temporary housing is being arranged for residents in low-lying areas, while evacuation efforts persist amid forecasted rains. The Buffalo City Metro reported 1,300 affected individuals.
