Michael Salie Mabena, the 57-year-old principal of Nelson Ngubeni Primary School in Mpumalanga, was brutally murdered during a home invasion in Vosman on May 8. Police arrived at his Ackerville home around 9:30 PM and found Mabena’s body with multiple stab wounds. The assailants, who remain unidentified, stole his black Kia Sportage, a plasma TV, and a sound system. Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela condemned the crime, highlighting its devastating impact on the community, especially the children Mabena had been educating. Education Department spokesperson Jasper Zwane also expressed deep sorrow and urged the public to assist police by providing any information that could lead to the suspects’ arrest.
