Brace yourself for more snow, heavy rain and cold in the Eastern and Western Cape

Extreme weather has gripped parts of South Africa, notably the Eastern and Western Cape, and the Namakwa District, causing dangerous conditions and possibly snow. President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his sorrow over the deaths of seven people along the Eastern Cape coast due to these weather events, highlighting the infrastructure damage and property loss. The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) confirmed the casualties, reported two missing persons, and warned of burst riverbanks and additional threats as spring tides peak. Incidentally, rough sea conditions, aggravated by storms and cold fronts, have added to the peril. A dramatic rescue occurred in the Eastern Cape when fishermen saved a man swept from a harbor wall. Buchanan Breytenbach heroically jumped into turbulent waters to save the man, preventing a further tragedy. Rescue efforts and cautionary measures continue as South Africa braces for worsening weather.
