A Limpopo pastor was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane on Thursday for killing a woman in a roadside ambush in August 2021.
Nwako Selowa-Makhotoka, 31, a church leader at the Jesus Christ Grace Ministries in Kuranta village, was sentenced to an additional five years for the illegal possession of a firearm, two years for the possession of ammunition, and 12 months for attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the pastor carefully planned the murder of Thabiso Masie by pretending that his car broke down on a road he knew the deceased would travel on.
